Jorge has over 18 years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language and Hispanic culture. He has taught students of all ages and backgrounds with many different learning objectives. Jorge has developed an effective teaching methodology for Spanish called the Audio-Cognitive method.
He holds a B.A. degree with a double major in Psychology and Spanish Literature and a minor in Anthropology from St. John’s University; an M.A. in Hispanic Literature from St. John’s University; and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Spain. Additionally, he has completed many graduate courses in Philology, Applied Linguistics and teaching methodology. Before launching Easy Español in 2004, Jorge taught at the Instituto Cervantes in New York; at Hunter College High School; and at St. Johns University in New York. He has experience teaching all levels of Spanish from Beginners to Art, Literature and Culture.
Personal Background and Interests:
He was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador and lives in New York City with his wife, daughter and son. Jorge is a U.S citizen and some other passions, besides teaching, include neurolinguistics, Anthropology, literature, Zen, traveling, art, politics, cooking and gardening.
