Jorge E. Gallegos Academic Director / Co-Founder of Easy Español Inc.

Personal Statement:

“Nobody is perfect; we all are perfectible. I profoundly believe in the plasticity of the brain and in the determination of the human spirit to overcome the most extreme difficulties to become a better person.”

Professional Background:

Jorge has over 18 years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language and Hispanic culture. He has taught students of all ages and backgrounds with many different learning objectives. Jorge has developed an effective teaching methodology for Spanish called the Audio-Cognitive method.

He holds a B.A. degree with a double major in Psychology and Spanish Literature and a minor in Anthropology from St. John’s University; an M.A. in Hispanic Literature from St. John’s University; and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Spain. Additionally, he has completed many graduate courses in Philology, Applied Linguistics and teaching methodology.  Before launching Easy Español in 2004, Jorge taught at the Instituto Cervantes in New York; at Hunter College High School; and at St. Johns University in New York. He has experience teaching all levels of Spanish from Beginners to Art, Literature and Culture.

Personal Background and Interests:

He was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador and lives in New York City with his wife, daughter and son. Jorge is a U.S citizen and some other passions, besides teaching, include neurolinguistics, Anthropology, literature, Zen, traveling, art, politics, cooking and gardening.


Patricia Calderon Academic Coordinator Live Online Programs

Professional Background:

Patricia is a skilled language coach with more than 23 years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language. She holds a Master’s Degree in Spanish and Literature from Universidad Central del Ecuador. Patricia has taught students of all ages and backgrounds and her students love her thought-provoking yet compassionate teaching style.

Patricia is the co-author of Español del Mundo, a popular textbook to teach Spanish used in many South American Spanish language schools. She has conducted numerous training workshops and seminars on teaching Spanish as a second language. Patricia is a certified DELE instructor. She has taken on-line professional development courses at the Instituto Cervantes, Easy Español and other institutions. Patricia oversees the academic program of all Spanish online courses and programs.

Personal Background and interest

Patricia is married and has two kids. In her spare time, Patricia enjoys cooking, music and spending time with her family. She is also interested in literature, traveling, art and social studies.


Agostina Horni Live Online Language Coach / Program Coordinator

Professional Background:

Agostina Horni is a Sworn Translator graduated from CAECE University (Mar del Plata, Argentina), and she also holds a minor degree in Technical-Scientific Translation. Her primary academic interests include Spanish and English grammar, Spanish and English translation, particularly technical-scientific translation. Agostina has spent the past ten years tutoring teenagers and adults in both English and Spanish, with a special focus on oral skills and written composition.

Agostina is the program coordinator for the Spanish Online courses and programs and supervises all levels of student support and customer care. She is also responsible for our Web maintenance.

Personal Background and Interests:

Agostina lives in Mar del Plata, Argentina. She is a young and hardworking person with an inquisitive mind and an easy-going personality. She enjoys reading mythology (especially Greek and Roman), classic fiction (Austen, Dickens and Brontë), as well as fantasy and mystery novels. She is also interested in Japanese music, language and animation, and is currently learning French.


Elena Corral Live Online Language Coach

Professional Background:

Elena has over twenty years of experience in teaching Spanish as a second language. She holds a B.A. degree in Education and a diploma in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from Universidad Católica in Quito, Ecuador. She has taught all levels of Spanish and is also a certified DELE instructor. Her students refer to her as “the” teacher. She is smart, caring and extremely patient. Elena has participated in several seminars and courses related to teaching Spanish.

Personal Background and Interests:

On her free time, Elena enjoys learning and practicing cosmetology and She loves practicing her training on her family and friends. Some other passions include, reading literature, reciting poetry and debating social issues among friends.


Edit Celin Live Online Language Coach

Professional Background:

Edith is a seasoned language coach with more than 20 years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language. She holds a degree in Education from Indoamérica University and a specialization in teaching Spanish as a second language from Universidad Católica in Quito, Ecuador.

She has taught students of all ages whose goals range from religion, art, culture and traveling. Edith is also knowledgeable in English and some German. She is patient, flexible yet strict, and she always tries her best to help her students fulfill their language goals.

Personal Background and Interests:

Edith loves teaching Spanish but she also has a passion for learning new languages. In her spare time, she loves traveling, reading, dancing salsa, playing soccer, and trekking.


John Estrada Senior In Person Language Coach

Professional Background:

John has had over twenty years of experience teaching Spanish and Hispanic Literature mostly to undergraduate and graduate students.

He has a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Comparative Literature from Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia; and an M.A. in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literature from City University of New York; CUNY. He holds a PhD in Medieval Spanish Literature from the City University of New York, CUNY.

John teaches Spanish and Hispanic Literature as an Adjunct Lecturer at Hostos Community College and Medgar Evers College, City University of New York. Prior to CUNY he taught at Yeshiva University and State University of New York (SUNY).

Personal Background and Interests:

Born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, John is a U.S. Resident who has lived in New York for twenty years. He loves French and Italian cinema and is an expert on Spanish wine and coffee from all over the world. He enjoys literature, comparative religions, politics, art and good conversations.


Paula Torres Live Online Language Coach

Professional Background:

Paula Torres teaches Spanish as a second language, and she graduated from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina.

Her academic interests include the study of both English and Spanish grammar, discourse analysis, and pragmatics in both languages. She has participated in various extension projects from her university aimed at teaching Spanish as a second language to Haitian college students as well as research project dedicated to the study of the use of scientific vocabulary in kindergarten classes in the city of Cordoba. She has worked in Cordoba teaching Spanish to adults and providing company training.

Personal Background and Interests:

Paula lives in Cordoba, Argentina, and in her free time she reads novels and goes to the theater. She also enjoys travelling and learning about different cultures. Other interests include graphic design, gastronomy, and foreign languages.
