Domenico Theotocopoulos, known as El Greco, was born in Crete in 1541 but it would be in the imperial Spain of his time that he would become famous. Mannerist painter, above the artists of his time and several centuries ahead of what would later become expressionism, El Greco conceived very elongated and distorted figures to enhance his spiritual expression and concept of life.
Art Historian Margarita San Ricardo Núñez, an art expert graduated from Universidad de Salamanca (one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Europe) will talk about the remarkable works of El Greco and his influence in art. Ms. San Ricardo Núñez will talk about beauty and spirituality in the unique El Greco’s painting style.
The talk will be conducted mainly in Spanish and English will be used just for clarification.
