Easy Podcast: El arete guasu: una celebración sagrada del pueblo guaraní

Guarani are a group of indigenous peoples that live across Paraguay, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina.

The Arete Guasú, literally ‘fiesta grande’ (big party), is a sacred Guarani celebration that originally coincided with the maize harvest. However, this festivity currently takes place during the Christian carnival.

This joyful, three-day event celebrates the meeting of the worlds of the death, the living and the ancestors with music, dancing, and other traditional practices.
