Jorge E. Gallegos
Academic Director / Co-Founder
Living out his passion, Jorge has over 15 years of experience teaching the Spanish as a second language and Hispanic culture. He has taught students of all ages and backgrounds with many different learning objectives.

He has a B.A. degree with a doble major in Psychology and Spanish Literature from St. John"s University; an M.A. in Hispanic Literature from St. Johns University; and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Universidad de Alcalá de Henares in Spain; and has completed many courses in applied linguistics and teaching methodology.  Jorge has also created an exclusive teaching methodology for Spanish called the Audio Cognitive Approach to Teaching Spanish.

Before launching Easy Español in 2004, Jorge taught at the Instituto Cervantes in New York; at Hunter College High School; and at St. Johns University in New York.
He was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador and lives in New York City with his wife and daughter. Jorge is a U.S citizen. His other passions include literature, travelling, art, politics and gardening.


María José Peñaherrera
Co-Founder / Study Abroad Coordinator / Webmaster
María José has had 10 years of professional experience in many different areas of communication including, among others, broadcasting, online marketing and teaching English, Spanish language and Hispanic Literature.

She has a B.A. degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Quito with a major in Social Communications and a minor in Comparative Literature; a Diploma from Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar in Communications and New Technologies.
Before co-founding Easy Español in 2004, María José worked as Web Communications Manager for a major private bank in Quito; taught English as a second language to elementary school children at Centro Educativo Integral in Quito.

She translated and edited several articles and books including notably the international bestseller "The Secret" - "El Secreto".

She is the Academic Director of “Español para Chicos” a pioneering total immersion Spanish program for toddlers in New York.

A U.S. Resident, born and raised in Ecuador, Maria Jose lives in New York with her husband and two-year-old daughter. In addition to her interests in teaching and technology, she loves Latin American literature and yoga.

 John Estrada / Colombia
Senior Face to Face Instructor

John has had fifteen years of experience teaching Spanish and Hispanic Literature mostly to undergraduate and graduate students. 

He has a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Comparative Literature from Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia; and an M.A. in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literature from City University of New York; CUNY. He is a PhD candidate at City University of New York, CUNY, working on a dissertation in Medieval Spanish Literature.

John teaches Spanish and Hispanic Literature as an Adjunct Lecturer at Hostos Community College and Medgar Evers College, City University of New York. Prior to CUNY he taught at Yeshiva University and State University of New York (SUNY).

Born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, John is a U.S. Resident who has lived in New York for twenty years. He loves French and Italian cinema and is an expert on Spanish wine and coffee from all over the world.

Patricia Calderón / Ecuador
Live On-line Academic Director

Patricia has over 20 years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language. She holds a Masters Degree in Spanish and Literature from Universidad Central del Ecuador. 
Patricia is the Academic Coordinator of a Spanish Learning Center in Quito-Ecuador and principal author of "Español del Mundo", a commonly used Spanish text book in South América. She has conducted numerous training workshops and seminars on teaching Spanish as a second language.
Patricia is a certified DELE instructor.

She is currently coursing an on-line  profesional development course given by the Instituto Cervantes.
In her spare time, Patricia enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and two young children. She also has a great interest in literature and social studies.



Agostina Horni
/ Argentina
Live On-line Instructor / On-line Marketing Associate

Agostina Horni is a Sworn Translator graduated from CAECE University (Mar del Plata, Argentina), and she also holds a minor degree in Technical-Scientific Translation from the same University.
Her main academic interests include Grammar, English Language, and Translation, particularly Technical-Scientific translation.
Agostina has spent the past five years tutoring teenagers and young adults in both English and Spanish, with a special focus in oral skills and written compositions.

In her spare time, Agostina enjoys reading mythology (especially Greek and Roman) and classical novels (Austen, Dickens, Brontë), as well as fantasy and mystery novels. She also has a great interest in Japanese music, language, and animation.


Adolfo Martín García
/ Argentina
Live Online Instructor

Adolfo Garcia has been teaching Spanish and English both in Argentina and United States to students at all levels for nearly nine years. He also has worked as a professional translator freelance since 2006, for the last three years he has been conducting extensive research on Linguistics and language acquisition problems.

Adolfo holds a degree in Technical and Scientific Translation from the Mar del Plata Community College and is completing his work towards a B.A. in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) at Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata. Additionaly, he is engaged in active research in Linguistics, Pedagogy and Translation Studies.

While teaching in the Language at Department of CAECE University in Mar del Plata, Argentina, Adolfo works for Easy Español as Live online instructor and is the Academic Coordinator for Easy Espanol´s  LIVE online program (E-SPANISH).

He was born in Balcarce, Argentina and currently lives in Mar del Plata, a beautiful city lying on the South-East coast of Buenos Aires When he is not working; he tends to his literary and musical passions.


Elena Corral
/ Ecuador
Live On-line Instructor

Elena holds a B.A. degree in Education Sciences and a Diploma in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language at Universidad Católica from Quito-Ecuador.   Elena is a certified DELE instructor.
She has over 18 years of experience in teaching Spanish as a second language in her native country to foreign students of all backgrounds and levels.
During her career she has attended several seminars and courses related to teaching, which she is passionate about.  

Moreover, in her spare time she studied and obtained the title of Executive Secretary and Master of Beauty which practices on the family. She enjoys reading literature, and debating about social issues.

 

Edith Ochoa/ Ecuador
Live On-line Instructor

Edith Ochoa has over 9 years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language.
She holds a degree in Education Sciences and a specialization  in teaching Spanish as a second language from Universidad Católica in Quito - Ecuador. Edith is a certified DELE instructor.
Edith has designed a special project for the creation and development of didactic materials for teaching Spanish as a second language.
In her spare time, Edith enjoys reading history  and novels. 

 

 



Paz Fagoaga / Argentina

Paz Fagoaga is a Sworn Translator graduated from CAECE University (Mar del Plata, Argentina), and she also holds a minor degree in Technical-Scientific Translation from the same University.

Her academics interests include Language, Translation and Interpretation.
Paz has been working as a telephone English/Spanish interpreter for 6 months and has tutored young students both in English and Spanish for 3 years.

Her main hobbies are reading Anglo-saxon and Latin-American literature, watching movies and listening to classical rock music.


Patricia Ochoa / Ecuador
Live On-line Instructor 

Patricia Ochoa has worked as a Spanish teacher for seventeen years. She holds a Junior Accountant bachelor degree from the Universidad Central del Ecuador, and a bachelor degree in Educational Studies, specialized in Spanish as a Second Language, from the Pontífice Universidad Católica (PUCE-I).

Patricia has also attended several seminars and courses related to teaching the Spanish language, and tutored students for exam preparation. She is a certified DELE instructor.

Patricia loves to share her culture and traditions with her students and her hobbies include reading, visiting museums, and enjoying outdoor activities with her three children.
