John Estrada / Colombia
Senior Face to Face Instructor
 John has had fifteen years of experience teaching Spanish and Hispanic Literature mostly to undergraduate and graduate students. 

He has a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Comparative Literature from Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia; and an M.A. in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian Literature from City University of New York; CUNY. He is a PhD candidate at City University of New York, CUNY, working on a dissertation in Medieval Spanish Literature.

John teaches Spanish and Hispanic Literature as an Adjunct Lecturer at Hostos Community College and Medgar Evers College, City University of New York. Prior to CUNY he taught at Yeshiva University and State University of New York (SUNY).

Born and raised in Medellín, Colombia, John is a U.S. Resident who has lived in New York for twenty years. He loves French and Italian cinema and is an expert on Spanish wine and coffee from all over the world.


 

William Eckardt/ Colombia
Face to Face Instructor
William has been teaching Spanish to all levels for over 14 years. William’s expertise is being able to involve his students in his interactive teaching approach which has them speaking and thinking in Spanish at a very early level.

William has a BS degree in Psychology from Universidad Metropolitana in Barranquilla Colombia. As well as a degree in Expert/Master in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid, Spain.

He also has experience working in Spanish/English translation and has a developed a course that is specifically geared towards Spanish for Medical Professionals.

A native of Barranquilla, Colombia, William has resided in New York City for the past 15 years, and he is currently living in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York City, Jackson Heights.
 


Kathy Gardner/ EEUU - República Dominicana
Spanish for Children Instructor

Kathy has been teaching for the New York City Department of Education / Bilingual Education program since the year 2000.
She has a B.A. in Sociology from Columbia University in New York City, where she also minored in Psychology; and an M.S. in Childhood Education with a specialization in the Education of Diverse Populations. She graduated from Queens College with honors.
In 2005, Kathy was honored with a New York State Assembly Citation for educational services. In 2006, she appeared on Univision 41 as Educator of the Week.

In her spare time, Kathy enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time with family.
Kathy resides in Queens, NY, where she was born and raised, with her husband Jerry and their son Samuel.
