Jorge E. Gallegos
Academic Director / Co-Founder
Living out his passion, Jorge has had 20 years of experience teaching the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. He has taught students of all ages and backgrounds with many different learning objectives.

He has a B.A. degree with a major in Psychology from the City University of New York; an M.A. in Hispanic Literature from St. Johns University; and an M.A. from Universidad de Alcalá de Henares in Spain; and has completed all coursework toward a PhD in Linguistics at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Spain.

Before launching Easy Español in 2004, Jorge taught at the Instituto Cervantes in New York; at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Spain; and at St. Johns University in New York.
He was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador and lives in New York City with his wife and daughter. Jorge is a U.S citizen. His other passions include literature, politics and gardening.

María José Peñaherrera
Co-Founder / Study Abroad Coordinator / Webmaster

María José has had 10 years of professional experience in many different areas of communication including, among others, broadcasting, online marketing and teaching English, Spanish language and Hispanic Literature.

She has a B.A. degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Quito with a major in Social Communications and a minor in Comparative Literature; an M.A. from Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar in Communications and New Technologies.
Before co-founding Easy Español in 2004, María José worked as Web Communications Manager for a major private bank in Quito; taught English as a second language to elementary school children at Centro Educativo Integral in Quito.
She translated and edited several articles and books including notably the international bestseller "The Secret" - "El Secreto".

She is the Academic Director of “Español para Chicos” a pioneering total immersion Spanish program for toddlers in New York.

A U.S. Resident, born and raised in Ecuador, Maria Jose lives in New York with her husband and two-year-old daughter. In addition to her interests in teaching and technology, she loves Latin American literature and yoga.

Edward J. Boyer
Business Advisor
Since 1987 Edward Boyer has been president of Edward Boyer Associates, Inc., a consulting and coaching firm that straddles the worlds of business and the arts.

A certified coach, Edward provides professional and personal development coaching services for individuals, groups and institutions with a focus on communication, trans-cultural adaptation, innovation and creativity.
Fine art consulting and advisory services for institutions and high net worth individuals include: collection management, curatorial services and the design and implementation of strategies for acquiring, selling and investing in works of fine art.

The management consulting practice focuses on global corporations, governments and not-for-profit institutions and includes: the evaluation and development of marketing communications and public relations strategies. Some representative clients: Citigroup, Deloitte Touche, Dentsu, Istituto Mobiliare Italiano, Toyota.

Prior to launching Edward Boyer Associates, Edward was an Associate Editor at FORTUNE Magazine where he wrote stories about international finance, trade, public policy and corporate performance.

Edward has a B.A. in European History and Literature from Columbia College in New York and completed his coursework for a PhD in History and Comparative Modernization at Princeton University and Tokyo University.

Edward’s additional experience includes public speaking at various corporate, not-for-profit and government forums; developing or participating in various broadcasting projects; and published articles in several well-known publications. He has served on the Boards of Big Apple Circus, Atlantic Theater Company, C.G. Jung Foundation and the New York Opera Society.

A U.S. citizen and longtime resident of New York, Edward was born in Mexico, grew up in Cuba and speaks several languages fluently including Spanish, French, Japanese and Hungarian. In addition to his many other interests, Edward loves to travel and immerse himself in new cultures.
